"There are dreams we will never give up on, and people we will never forget!"
Milica Nektarijević Milica Nektarijević was born on July 29, 1995, in Belgrade. She completed her master's studies in Biochemical Engineering at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade in 2019, graduating with a perfect score of 10. During her studies, she attended pre-doctoral courses in Quantitative Biology at the prestigious IFOM International Oncology Institute in Milan, as well as a six-month internship in Bioprocess Engineering in Ghent, Belgium, at the innovative company “Bio Base Europe.” She was also a participant at the Petnica Research Center.
After graduating from her master's studies, as the recipient of the prestigious European Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship, she began her doctoral studies at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where she focused on advanced technologies in biofuel production, aiming to improve and preserve our environment—an endeavor she chose as her life's mission.
In addition to her outstanding academic achievements, Milica was actively involved in numerous extracurricular organizations, including the European Youth Parliament, the student association of technical faculties BEST, and the Belgrade Open School.
Alongside her academic accomplishments, in her brief 25 years, Milica made friends across all continents, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. What her friends and colleagues remember most about Milica is her empathy and humanity, her good advice, warm words of support, and her smile. Milica lived by the principle that each of us can and should make someone's day, year, or life better, as a good deed costs us little but can mean everything to someone else. Inspired by her example, Milica Nektarijević's family established this scholarship in her memory, so that others can learn of her name and her work, and so that her kindness may continue to live on.
